Masjid Al-Salam is pleased to offer a scholarship program designed to support students in our community who are pursuing higher education at a university or community college.
Available Scholarships
For the Fall 2025 semester, we are offering:
- Four scholarships of $2,000 per year
- Four scholarships of $1,500 per year
Each scholarship is renewable for up to two years, based on continued eligibility.
* Please note: scholarships cannot be applied to summer or minimester courses.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a graduating high school senior entering college as a freshman in Fall 2025.
- Demonstrate financial need (considered during selection).
- Reside within the ISGH designated zip codes served by Masjid Al-Salam:
77068, 77069, 77070, 77355, 77356, 77362, 77363, 77375, 77377, 77379, 77388 - Enroll in an accredited public institution.

Scholarship Renewal Requirements
To maintain eligibility, recipients must:
- Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Complete 12 credit hours per semester
- Perform 50 hours of community service per year
(for each scholarship year awarded plus one additional year) - Remain in good academic standing

How to Apply?
1. Submit Application Form
- Complete the Masjid Al-Salam Scholarship Application.
- Save your file as: LastnameFirstname_App
2. Email Your Application
Send an email to scholarship@alsalammasjid.org
with:
- Your completed application form
- A photo of a bill showing the name and address of someone living in your household
You will receive an ID number, which must be used in all future submissions.
*Do not include your name on essays or other documents.
3. Submit Your Resume
- Replace your name with your assigned ID number.
- File name: ID#_Resume
- Resume must be one page.
- We encourage reviewing sample resumes or asking teachers for feedback.
4. Essay 1
Email to scholarship@alsalammasjid.org
Prompt:
What are your academic and career goals? How will this scholarship help you achieve them?
Guidelines:
- Use your ID number instead of your name
- Maximum 2 pages, MLA format (12 pt font, 1” margins, double spaced)
- Include page number + ID# in the header
- Title: Essay 1 – [Your Title]

5. Essay 2
Submit one of the ApplyTexas prompts (A, B, or C):
Essay A: Tell us your story. What opportunities or challenges have shaped who you are?
Essay B: Describe an identity, interest, or talent that defines you.
Essay C: You’re holding a ticket—where will you go and why? What will happen when you get there?
Guidelines:
- Submit between 1 page (22 lines) and 3.5 pages (~80 lines)
- MLA format (same as Essay 1)
- Title: Topic A/B/C – [Your Title]

Essays previously submitted to ApplyTexas may be used.
6. Interview
Top applicants will be invited for an interview with the selection committee.
7. Final Selection
Award recipients will be announced before high school graduation and must submit:
- A valid photo ID
- University enrollment information
